Spring Shoe Preview: ClarksPosted by Jo on Friday 17th January 2014
Giving us a taste for Spring/Summer British footwear brand Clarks previews the designs that we will all be coveting this coming season...
There’s a reason why Clarks manufacture and sell more than 50 million pairs of shoes every year and that’s because they do the ‘everyday’ shoe so well. This season women can take their pick from kid suede wedge heels to stud finished chunky sandals and plenty more in-between. Key colours worked the neutrals such as khaki, tan and natural leather, easy to work into any wardrobe and also offered up hot pink, turquoise and electric blue for those that love a pop of colour come summer.
Bringing her own signature vintage twist to the Clarks range for the first time this Spring is the high priestess of print - Orla Kiely. Her range of six key styles, the Marianne, the Muriel, the Matilda, the Milly, the Mary and the Maggie, arrives in a variety of juicy bright shades and heel heights including towering block platforms to sling-back Mary Jane flats. This capsule range has a 70’s vibe and is already proving a hit amongst fashion ed’s and bloggers and will be available to buy from February.
Over in the menswear section of Clarks enchanted garden all the classics were set in place albeit with a modern twist; the brogue, the dessert boot, the Wallabee, the driving shoe and the classic sailing shoe were all giving a tweak of modern detailing such as bright trims, mixed finishes and woven sections plus interesting colour combos.
Collaborating with Clarks Originals this season is the Shoreditch based design duo ‘Patternity’. Taking the classic dessert boot Patternity have applied a geometric print in either white and neutral or black gloss on black matt – to great visual effect.
Clarks excel in children’s footwear and this season is no exception. From divine mini moccasins to mint leather ballet pumps with metallic trim the girl’s selection has moved up a notch. New to kids are flip-flops curved to fit the foot so they won’t flop off and low-wedge heel girl’s sandals plus a selection of canvas ‘Doodles’ to chose from. Equally as strong this season the boy’s collection features some stylish while practical denim leather lace-ups and retro trainer inspired designs that will make Dad wish his feet were smaller.
