TREND OF THE MOMENT
Black and White
The summer has witnessed the rise of a classic staple: black & white. Chanel rarely strayed from the monochrome palette in her day when dressing was all about elegance and chic. For autumn the trend continues as a smart, sharp alternative to the sea of sombre tones out there.
On the catwalk check out the likes of Balenciaga, Giles and Giorgio Armani for inspiring clean lines and graphic two-tone prints. Meanwhile, on the High Street the likes of Miss Selfridge, Wallis and Oasis have caught the black & white bug and applied to key autumn shapes accordingly.
Do watch out, however, while the combination of two contrasting tones may look like a simple styling option it’s easy to get carried away. Remember - less is more - the idea is to cleverly liven up plain separates, only the bold and the brave can get away with head-to-toe monochrome patterns.
