TREND OF THE MOMENTNu Wave Rave
Could it be a backlash to all that neutrality out there? Nu Wave Rave has been bubbling in the background for a good while now. First came the old-skool remixes of acid-house tracks that got clubs pumping back in the late 80s/early 90s and now it’s the fashion; which is a long way off from subtle.
I have to admit even when the 2007 Vogue List cited Rave as the next cultural revival I remained sceptical; neon tones, hoodies and in-your-face graphics surely not! But a number of press previews down the line I have to say - they were right. The likes of TopShop and Miss Selfridge revealed plenty of clashing prints in acid shades and ravers of the nu-generation are already layering up stretchy bright Lycra with hoodies, tees and the obligatory glo-stick.
For rave revival right now look no further than Tsubi, Cassette Playa, Y-3 and fash pack favourite – Christopher Kane.
