K Denim

There’s no doubt that Karl Lagerfeld is a workaholic, he already designs collections for Chanel; ready-to-wear and couture, Fendi and his own Lagerfeld label. If that wasn’t enough his photographic skills are splashed across the worlds top glossies and now he is about to launch a new denim label. Under the name of K Karl Lagerfeld the jeans ranging from 120 – 220 Euros will debut at Bread & Butter in Barcelona, 17th – 19th January.

Madge & her Furry Friends

Every winter the fur debate takes another turn. Various animal welfare organizations are now targeting celebrities in their plight to rid the nation of fur wearers. The latest famous face is Madonna; she was recently spotted leaving a restaurant in a £34,000 chinchilla coat by Italian fashion house Fendi. It’s not the first time Madonna has been noted wearing our furry friends, even her pal Stella McCartney has berated the singer for wearing real fur items. Recently Paris Hilton stated that she would no longer be wearing real fur after viewing a documentary on the Chinese fur trade, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Peta, hopes she will stick to her word.

Ugly Betty

On a lighter note I am intrigued by the new series ‘Ugly Betty’ coming to our screens from the 5th January. In the superficial world of high fashion, where image paramount how is an ordinary girl, braces n’ all supposed to fit in? Landing a job as an assistant at Mode magazine, ordinary Betty reveals her spirit, ideas and passion to succeed in an industry full of sharks and pitfalls. Sounds about right. Ugly Betty will be shown in the UK early next year.

Mock Croc

Talking of ugly, croc shoes, those lightweight, primary coloured clog like things that render adults into children’s TV presenters have grown up. Sprouting a little heel with an open toe they are starting to look, dare I say it, a tad more chic?

Posh Powder Room

Getting caught short in the West end is no fun for a girl. Which is why so many of us know those lav hotspots for when we are in dire need; TopShop, Selfridges, the public lavs at the end of Carnaby Street and many more. Plus there’s that from day to night transition which just wouldn’t happen if you traipsed all the way home and back again. Good job then, that WC1 has just opened. Now if you thought 20p was a bit much just to spend a penny, then brace yourself, as a visit to WC1 costs £5. For that price, though, it does come with plenty of extras; well-lit mirrors, lounge music and large climate-controlled cubicles - where you can change into work or evening clothes, complete with fluffy white towels, soap and hand cream and deep seats for that quick power snooze. Basically it’s a posh powder room, loo and retail retreat.

WC1 – now open
439-441 Oxford Street, W1
8am-9pm Monday-Saturdays, 12-6pm Sun
