Mumo: a new model in ethical fashion

 

Mumo is the new brand in the ethical fashion trade and is set to make a splash at its pre-launch next month. Bridging the gap between exclusive Brazilian fashion designer-labels and the UK, Mumo also guarantees that revenues created will be reinvested into improving the lifestyles of the workers who actually make the garments.

 

Mumo is not a charity; it is a business model that ensures that no one loses out – the designers – who have their beautiful creations introduced to a fresh market, in this case the UK; the boutiques and buyers – who are now able to buy small runs of each range; the shopper – who can enjoy the beautiful clothes that Brazil is famous for; and the factory-worker – who’s quality of life will be improved with investment in projects such as housing, sanitation and child care.

 

“It makes perfect economic sense for all concerned.” explains Kirstin Samuel, brain-child behind Mumo. A Glasgow-born savvy entrepreneur Kirstin is now based in London. She has a keen eye for style and a determination to make a difference in the cut-throat world of fashion. After spending over six months in Brazil and becoming fluent in Portuguese, Kirstin is confident that Mumo will strike a chord with everyone involved.

 

Mumo is holding a pre-launch event on the 7th November from 4pm till 8pm at 43, the private members club on South Molton St, London where there will be the opportunity to find out all about Mumo, see samples of the ranges, discuss needs and talk to Kirstin and her plans for the future.

 

All the designers are sourced at the well-established Sao Paulo fashion week which takes place every January and July; designers include Zigfreda, Cori and Neon.
