Crammed full of sensual drama and flamboyant silhouettes Ziad Ghanem hones his couture skills for his Autumn/Winter 10/11 collection entitled ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.’

 

Inspired by the optimism and the fading world of glamour that emerged from the couture salons of the 1950s intertwined with the seductiveness of Brazilian burlesque. Ziad plays on ‘the art of undressing’ concept; opening and altering garments with a dance-like fluidity. Body conscious shapes are juxtaposed with layers of heavy frills and complicated origami sections while retaining Ziad’s signature prints and embellishments.

 

Meanwhile, Ziad’s menswear designs take a refined turn with dapper tailoring and a dark nod to Count Dracula. In keeping with his previous collections pieces are produced with ethically sourced materials and eco friendly printing methods; decadent design with a considerate conscience.

 

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is due to be presented at London Fashion Week on 22nd February 2010 with a special guest appearance from international burlesque siren: Immodesty Blaize.
