Bath in Fashion 2010

ANNOUNCING THE FIRST FASHION SHOW EVER AROUND THE ROMAN

BATHS AT “FASHION N FIZZ WITH MILSOM PLACE” 16TH APRIL 2010

A FAB! EVENING FOR BATH FASHIONISTAS

Bath fashionistas are snapping up tickets for “Fashion ‘n Fizz with Milsom Place”, a party to celebrate Bath in Fashion on Friday 16th April at 8.00 pm.  This is the first time a fashion show has been ever staged in this historic and magical venue.  As the steam rises from the naturally heated thermal waters, spotlights will follow models as they parade along the same pavements that Roman bathers used some 2000 years ago.

Tickets, priced at £30 per head, include supper and a great goodie bag as well as chilled fizz to sip throughout the evening.  A raffle will raise funds for Save the Children, the official charity of Bath in Fashion 2010.

Bath & North East Somerset Council is supporting Bath in Fashion and has sponsored the use of the Roman Baths for this very special occasion. David Lawrence, Divisional Director, Tourism, Leisure and Culture said “this festival underwrites Bath’s heritage as a centre of fashion.  Today we have a successful fashion department at Bath Spa University, an important collection of contemporary and historical fashion at the Fashion Museum as well as a thriving retail scene. The fashion show at the Roman Baths will be a night to remember”.

Milsom Place is co-ordinating this very special fashion show.  Director, Sarah Mansfield said “ this very special party will be a highlight of Bath in Fashion,  a chance to see contemporary fashion in a unique setting”.   As the headline event, the line up will attract top brands like Ted Baker, Liz Cox, Phase Eight, Cath Kidston, Traffic People and Hobbs as well as Bath independents Sassy & Boo, Quadri and Image.  The venue is not without its challenges says Jacquai Holcombe, Manager of Traffic People in Milsom Place but our dresses are very versatile and will look just as stunning on models with flat shoes or bare feet.” The uneven Roman pavements are not recommended for stilettos.

Event organisers FAB! is developing a full programme for the evening including a delicious supper served up by Searcy’s the Council’s official caterers at the Roman Baths accompanied by chilled prosecco from Great Western Wine.  Andrew Wright, Director of FAB! was keen to get involved “of all the events we have organised in Bath this one is quite unique, there has never been  a fashion show before around the Roman Baths.” Bristol based Bright, a specialist events management company are handling the logistics for all of the fashion shows during Bath in Fashion.

Andrew Cooper, City Centre Manager is leading the organisation of Bath in fashion working with the City Centre Marketing Group, part of Future Bath Plus. He said “Bath has risen to the challenge of creating a festival that is both exciting and different from the kind of fashion week you find elsewhere.  We are gearing up with a fun and action packed programme of events”.
