UK’s Largest Vintage Fair

The UK’s Largest Vintage Fair Hits London

Vintage fashion is where designers, celebrities and London’s street savvy fashion warriors find their inspiration. It’s no wonder that The Affordable Vintage Fair is in its 4th year, holding the crown as the UK’s fastest growing vintage shopping event. All stalls are price checked to reflect huge discounts, on average 40% lower than vintage available on the high street.

After over 1200 visitors descended on East London in April, the nationwide fair returns to London on Sunday 25th October. It is brought to the capital in association with Rag&Bow, London’s innovative roaming vintage store. Rag&Bow have freshly returned from their London Fashion Week pop up shop situated on Newburgh Street W1 (in association with fashion showcase On|Off) and their debut stall at the London
Fashion Weekend.

The Affordable Vintage Fair consists of only the best vintage retailers and traders from around the UK. 50 stalls will be offering vintage clothing, accessories & homeware dating from the 1920s – 1980s. VV Vintage, the boutique fashion label owned by singer and doyen of style,VV Brown will also be joining us.

The fair is located at Sustainable Studios situated on Scrutton Street, EC2 (just off Great Eastern Street). Sustainable Studios, owned by Bash, are the UK’s first creative agency that specialises in making the cultural sectors more environmentally sustainable.

Open to the public from 12:00 – 17:00 visitors can enjoy a fix of vintage surrounded by a smorgasbord of delights. Lady Luck’s Pop-up Tea Shoppe will be back selling scrumptious tea and cakes, served on 1930 – 1970 styled tables by matching coiffed waitresses. Dalston’s WAH Nails, owned by Sharmadean Reid (Sportswear Editor at Arena Homme Plus) and who recently featured in Grazia Magazine’s ‘Cool List of 2009’, will be opening up a mini nail bar especially for the event. Plus, Kathleen and Lily’s on the spot customisation and alterations service will be available at the ‘Make, Create & Customise’ area.

Originating in 2005 the fair has been heralded as a ‘shopping phenomenon’ by the national press. It regularly holds events in cities including London, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield. It is also the only event to debut a vintage Kilo stall where customers can purchase clothing by credit crunch friendly weight, rather than per item.

Former Selfridges personal shopper and vintage fashion guru Judy Berger is the founder of the event, she said; “Bringing the event back to London was the best thing I could have done. We’re now showing the capital what the north has to offer and bringing the lower prices with us. Over the last two years we’ve seen a huge increase in people coming to our events. People still like the high street but are tired of seeing everyone wearing the same thing.”

Judy who also runs the largest British clothes swap website www.whatsmineisyours.com goes on to say; “Our events are like treasure chests, you have to dig a little but you end up finding a true gem without having to spend a fortune.”

Visitors to the fair can not only expect to find a large selection of quality vintage items at extremely affordable prices but also can revel in the other elements on offer.

The Affordable Vintage Fair is an unmissable experience, not only for vintage enthusiasts but for those looking for a genuinely unique day out.
