Scene Stealers on BBC2

What does it take to be a fashionista?

American InterContinental University (AIU) London fashion student Dakaar Goodson knows and is set transform a protégé to steal the show this week on the first of an all new Scene Stealers premiering on 24th July on BBC2 Switch at 12.50 PM.

Two teens, two scenes, and a life changing experience which will stay with them forever. NBC Universal and Switch on BBC2 present Scene Stealers the show where image is everything – except it’s about stealing someone else’s.

Spotted by the Scene Stealers team while out shopping in London, Dakaar Goodson, who is originally from New York City, is no stranger to fashion. Yet at just 19 he is one of the eldest to appear in the show. Dakaar came to London in search of the ultimate introduction to fashion. He enrolled at AIU London, on the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Marketing and Design (BFA) program and is now fully immersed in the fashion student scene; attending parties, shows and always on the look out for the hottest trends.

Episode one features two Scene Stealers, shaking off their dark emo look and going over to the light side as they make their way as fashionistas.  Fashionista Dakaar is mentor to emo teenager Mistie, who knows nothing about the fashion world. Dakaar will take his student to AIU London, his creative foundation and the place where he is learning his craft.  He’ll teach her what the industry is all about and the dedication and creativity needed to make it.

Mistie leaves her mates behind and attempts to blag her way into the Fashionista group to see if she’s got what it takes to be a Scene Stealer. She has to mimic the fashionista look, speech, interest, tastes - and fool a group of real scene members.

What Dakaar and Mistie don’t know is that one of the new group is actually another Scene Stealer and their competition! When the challenge is over, the real Scene Stealers are revealed, and both mentors and scene stealers realise that we aren’t so different after all.

Mike Beale, Executive Producer, said: “It is great to be exploring all new scenes and challenging teenagers to question their stereotypes of other teen groups.”

Dakaar said: “The ferociously flawless conversion of the emo Misty was such a success she is so totally fanatical about fashion I recommend she enrols at AIU London with me next semester.”

The full six episode series will profile Scene Stealers trying out new scenes such as Thrash Heavy Metal, Classical Music, Politics, Surfing, Farming, Grime, Ballroom, Emos, Army and LARPing.
