Burberry - The Golden Ticket

It has been eight years since Christopher Bailey took the helm at Burberry and it’s no coincidence that the label has transformed into a global megabrand with profit margins to match. Undoubtedly the hottest ticket of London Fashion Week celebs queuing to get in included Victoria Beckham, Emma Watson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, Mary-Kate Olsen, the list goes on. As did the glossy catwalk which stretched from here to eternity in a specially erected tent outside the Chelsea College of Art.

Bailey has balanced the brand beautifully retaining just the right amount of classic British style with fresh contemporary appeal. For Spring/Summer he actually managed to get the audience salivating over his latest glamorous creations which fashion journalists are calling his ‘best collection’ thus far.

Draped sections were ruched, crossed and twisted to form sculptural and yet romantic skirts and dresses. The iconic Burberry trench arrived leaner, shorter and complete with intricate shoulder details. Key fabrics included soft buttery leather, suede, jersey, tulle and duchess silk. While a muted colour palette of camel, nude, pale grey and pastel tones gave way to glossy pearl and metallic silver come evening.

Styled with sky-high wooden platforms, leather belt cinched-waists and an assortment of cuffs and clutches Burberry knows how to work those latest accessory trends. Bringing London Fashion Week to a close in a shower of metallic confetti the highly exclusive event was simultaneously made public courtesy of live streaming and the world-wide-web.
