LFW: Super Slick Matthew

The high priestess of style Ms Anna Wintour once suggested that the British Fashion Council should entice back Britain’s big guns – the Burberry’s and Pringles of this world – to cement London as a major fashion player. And they did! New York fixture: Matthew Williamson added to the draw bringing a sequin drenched front row with him. Twiggy, Yasmin Le Bon, Trish Goff and Olivia Palermo posed for the paps and watched Williamson’s latest collection unfold.

Matthew’s vibrant colour palette: hot fuchsia, lime green and iridescent silver was contrasted with muted shades of grey and olive. High on the gloss factor; metallic tweeds, silk jerseys, sequins and embellishment galore – this collection was a party girl’s picnic. Not for the shy dresses featured revealing cut-out sections around the midriff while key silhouettes were close and form-fitting.

As seen elsewhere there was a nod to the eighties; a tight pencil skirt here, an exaggerated shoulder there, but Matthew kept it all in the very best of taste.
